Find your way around

The sidebar, the account menu, light and dark mode, and how the workspace behaves on a phone.

On this page

The sidebar

Pages are listed under School on the left. Everyone has Today, Inbox and Calendar. The other pages depend on your role: parents see Family; teachers see Students, Programs, Attendance and Progress; administrators also see People and Audit log. A staff member who is also a parent sees Family alongside their staff pages.

If your sign-in account belongs to more than one organization, an organization switcher appears above the pages. Choosing another organization clears the records on screen and opens that organization's workspace. The switcher is hidden while you belong to one organization.

Owners and organization administrators of an organization with more than one school also see a School list above the pages. It starts on All schools. Choosing one school narrows Students, Programs, Attendance, Progress and Calendar to that school's records, and new programs, terms and calendar entries start in that school. The choice is remembered on this browser. Institution administrators and teachers already work inside one school and do not see the list.

Each page starts with a title and short description, for example A simple register for each program and day. on Attendance. The selected sidebar item shows which page you are on. On a phone, the top bar also shows Workspace › Students or the page you opened.

The account menu

The button showing your school’s name at the top of the sidebar opens your account menu. It shows your name, sign-in email and role, then Account settings, Dark mode or Light mode, Help centre and Sign out. Owners and organization administrators also see Institution settings (see Institution settings). When the school has entered a contact email, Contact the school opens a new message to it.

On a phone

On narrow screens the sidebar is hidden. Use the menu button in the top bar (Open navigation) to show it, and Close navigation or the Escape key to hide it. Tables on Students and Progress turn into cards, and the audit log scrolls sideways inside its table.

Every page has its own address, for example /workspace#attendance, and each student record has one too. Bookmark a page or share it with a colleague who has the same access. If your role cannot open a page, the workspace shows your first page instead.
